Clockwork Diarama
Ponsonby Business Association
Info
We created this piece of work for the Ponsonby Business Association, and it quickly became a project that sits right at the intersection of business, creative and immersive placemaking. It's a love letter to Ponsonby — bringing activation and warmth to Te Rimutahi, the new public urban space, and along Ponsonby Road over the Christmas period. A slow-turning, quietly magical clockwork mechanism reveals a new scene - Ponsonby Road reimagined as a series of lush miniature dioramas, each held within a glass sphere. Native birds glide above heritage buildings, hibiscus and pōhutukawa bloom around familiar neighbourhood landmarks. It’s a celebration of Ponsonby itself - its people, its architecture, its Pacific heartbeat. Twelve rotations, twelve vignettes, each one a postcard of an Aotearoa summer unfolding.
