Vapour Dream - Immersive Interactive experience

Originally presented at Dark Light Experience. An interactive dreamscape, where light and vapour mingle and drift, in and out of slumber. A quiet conversation between illumination and atmosphere - an ephemeral pulse that ripples in response to physical interaction. Vapour Dream is an immersive installation featuring a pond which creates a constant layer of water vapour, scented like a damp native NZ forest. Suspended above, a projector casts surreal visuals of rings radiating from the pond’s centre, accompanied by an ambient, dreamlike soundtrack. A hand tracker mounted on a nearby plinth allows visitors to control the movement of colourful rings across the vapour surface—faster gestures produce rapid, energetic ripples, while slower motions create gentle, drifting waves. The result is a multi-sensory experience where sight, sound, scent, and gesture converge in a meditative, otherworldly environment.
